Leigh is a graduate of Harvard University and the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. She has been practicing exclusively immigration and refugee law since 2004. She represents clients in all types of immigration matters, from family sponsorships to intra-company transferees to refugee claims to national security cases. She has litigated at all levels of the immigration and refugee system: the Immigration and Refugee Board, Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada.
Leigh has been and continues to be involved in legal challenges to the Safe Third Country Agreement as counsel for Amnesty International, the Canadian Council for Refugees and the Canadian Council of Churches.
As chair of the Access to Justice Committee of the Refugee Lawyers’ Association of Ontario, she has worked on successful campaigns against cuts to Legal Aid Ontario funding for immigration and refugee services.
Leigh has mentored lawyers in immigration and refugee law, both on behalf of Legal Aid Ontario and independently. She has assisted in supervising law students at a community legal clinic and in her own practice.
Leigh speaks French and Spanish, and works with interpreters in all languages.
Natalia has been working as a legal assistant with Leigh Salsberg for over 10 years. She received her Bachelor’s degree with honours and Master's degree in Economic Information Systems from Penza State University, Russia, and later immigrated to Canada and changed her career.
Natalia has extensive experience in immigration, refugee and citizenship applications.
She speaks Russian and some Spanish. She is committed to her work and hopes to assist people who are relocating to Canada by making their transition as smooth as possible.
